As our #ChildrenOfGreece campaign gains traction throughout North America and more and more people support our campaign, a $5000 donation was made to the Greek charity “Kivotos Tou Kosmou,” (Also known as Ark of the World, in English).
The money has come from generous donors throughout the United States and Canada who have embraced our efforts to alleviate the suffering of Greece’s children. Some people have hosted events in their homes or businesses, while others donated their birthdays.
HOW TO DONATE YOUR BIRTHDAY TO #CHILDRENOFGREECE
A special $1000 gift came from the graduation fund of Marina Tsirambidis, an Ohio high school graduate who had already covered her college expenses and wanted the balance of the monetary gifts she received to help underprivileged children in Greece.
Through her donation, Tsirambidis joins our growing list of Ambassadors of Hope — on the ground supporters throughout North America who have raised or donated $1000 or more to our #ChildrenOfGreece campaign.
HOW TO BECOME AN AMBASSADOR OF HOPE
Kivotos Tou Kosmou is one of six charities in Greece that have been selected as beneficiaries. This is the third grant from our Project Hope for Greece #ChildrenOfGreece campaign, with previous grants going to HOPEgenesis and METAdrasi.
Founded in 1998 by Greek Orthodox priest Fr. Antonios Papanikolaou to address the needs of abandoned and unprotected children, the charity has grown into one of Greece’s most respected and valuable charities, with numerous facilities in Athens, Piraeus, Pogoniani in Epirus and on the island of Chios.
Hundreds of children under the organization’s care, most of them Greek, but also from other countries, experience affection and peace at the Ark of the World, away from past poverty, hunger, racism and other blights tormenting our society every day.
From Kivotos Tou Kosmou: “Christ’s Love being our only ally and with all our available means, we have undertaken to feed the children every day, tend to their needs for clothes, shoes, medical, pharmaceutical and dental care and education.”
